Sangita's Journey

My journey into classical music has been shaped by time, discipline, and an enduring relationship with raga. Rooted in the traditions of Odishi and Hindustani music, my learning began not as an ambition, but as a way of listening—listening to sound, silence, and the spaces in between. Over the years, music became both practice and presence, demanding patience, surrender, and honesty.

Training within the classical tradition taught me that music is not learned quickly, nor performed lightly. It is absorbed through repetition, reflection, and lived experience. Each raga carries its own mood, grammar, and memory, and engaging with it requires humility and respect. This understanding continues to shape my approach to both performance and teaching.

Performance has been an essential part of my journey. Stepping onto the stage has never been about display, but about dialogue—between the artist and the listener, between tradition and the present moment. Through concerts and cultural engagements, I have sought to present classical music in its pure form, allowing its emotional depth and subtlety to unfold naturally.

Teaching, alongside performing, has become an equally meaningful extension of my practice. Guiding students through the foundational discipline of classical music has deepened my own understanding of the art. Teaching reinforces the belief that tradition survives not through preservation alone, but through careful transmission—where values, discipline, and sensitivity are passed on with sincerity.

Over time, my journey has evolved into a balance of learning, performing, and sharing. Classical music continues to be a lifelong pursuit—one that does not seek completion, but depth. Through voice and silence, through raga and rhythm, I continue to walk this path with devotion to tradition and openness to discovery.
